I have no idealised concept of the High Court, or of the law. I merely expect the court to act as referee between the plaintiff and the defendant. In this case the 'referee' has permitted one side, the prosecution, to break every rule in the legal book, including what amounts to kicking the referee in the shins. (the various false statements)

You could not expect a spectator to go on watching a football match in which all the penalties were awarded to one side all the time, and in which the side that got the free kicks also abused, undermined and deceived the referee.

May I also remind you that Mr. Osman, under our constitution, from whence come our laws, is innocent until proven guilty at a proper trial, properly brought. As soon as Reid was jailed it became incumbent on the court as the referee, to grant at least some benefit of the doubt to the constitutionally innocent man, and to demand a full review of its position from the prosecution. That failure alone, in the present state of the legal system, fully justifies my actions in seeking redress in the media, rather than from an institution which has shown itself quite inadequate when dealing with even simple aspects of this case.

Declaration of an interest. I have acted, on occasion

for the Osman family, in the past. Neither their consent or views, or those of their lawyers, were sought or obtained for this matter. I have undertaken this in the interests of justice and for journalistic reasons.
