Since then, the number of applications for 7-day visit visas has increased steadily from 26 in February to 102 in June, and a total of 342 such visas have been issued. In addition, we have gone out of our way to approve a further 37 applications even though the standard time of 7 working days cannot be met.
Seen from here, you will agree that we have been quite liberal to the Vietnamese. I do not feel, therefore, that they have a case to complain.
Nevertheless, we are now reviewing our visa regime jointly with other Government departments. I will let you know if we are able to come up with something new.
