Her Majesty's Ambassador at Buenos Aires presents compliments to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Worship the Government of Argentina and has the honour to refer to. recent discussions between representatives of the Government-of- Argentina and Her Majesty's Government of Britain concerning visa-fice access for travel to Hong Kong by Argentine passport holders and for travel to Argentina by Hong Kong British Dependent Territories Citizen passport holders and by British National (Overseas) passport holders (hereafter called "British- Hong Kong passport holders"), and to state that the understanding of Her Majesty's Government of Britain is as.

Argentine passport holders will be permitted to visit Hong Kong without visas for a period not exceeding (1) month, excluding the date of landing.

Holders of British Hong Kong passports of a type described in the Annex to this Note will be permitted to visit Argentina without visas for a period not exceeding ... one (1) month оп a reciprocal basis and under arrangements identical to those described in (1) above.

It is understood that the exemption from the visa requirement will not exempt Argentine passport holders: who travel to Hong Kong, nor British passport holders who travel to the Argentine Republic from the obligation to comply with the respective laws and regulations on the entry and residence of foreigners and on carrying out lucrative activities, whether on а self-employed ot salaried basis. Travellers who, according to the immigration authorities, do not satisfy the fulfilment of the

said laws and regulations may be refused permission to enter, disembark or remain in the respective territories.

The Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or the Government of the Argentine Republic may temporarily suspend the former provisions, in total or in part. In such a case, the other Government will immediately be informed of the suspension by: diplomatic channels.
