Dear Roy Hattersley,

I have been approached by a Party member from this constituency who is originally from the West Indies.

He has asked me to find out if there is any truth in rumours he has heard from friends and family back in his native Caribbean that the British Government has made arrangements for some 3,000 people to move from Hong Kong to St. Kitts, presumabely when the status of Hong Kong changes in a few years time.

The gentleman concerned is going back to the West Indies to see family and friends at Christmas and he has asked me to obtain any information if possible. I wonder if you can help.

Yours sincerely,

Nick Stephen
