The High Commission of the Kingdom of Lesotho presents its compliments to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and has the honour to request the latter to provide assistance to the Lesotho Government's Commission of Inquiry following irregularities with the issuing of Lesotho passports and granting of citizenship to some Hong Kong based Chinese. order to complete its investigations the Commission has to travel to Hong Kong as soon as possible.
In
Specifically, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office is requested to:
(i) make necessary arrangements for the Commission of
Inquiry to visit Hong Kong within the next week in order to undertake this task;
(ii)
facilitate the provision of adequate protection for the members of the Commission of Inquiry whilst in Hong Kong;
(iii) facilitate, as far as it is legally and physically possible,
through the Hong Kong authorities, the identification of potential witnesses in the private and public sectors, who can testify before the Commission;
(iv)
make it possible that Mrs Lydia Wu, the former Lesotho's Honorary Consul to Hong Kong, is available to be interviewed by the Commission of Inquiry.
