If this is the case it is clearly a praiseworthy improvement, albeit applicable to only one group, and a positive move towards boosting the confidence of (some) British citizens in Hong Kong and their spouses. The police of course play a most important role in the administration of the Territory. However, an important role is also played by other groups of British citizens in Hong Kong, in Government, commerce, education etc.

Our group would be most interested to learn if indeed the UK residential requirement for non-UK spouses is being waived for certain categories of applicant, and if so whether this is by concession or in accordance with provisions in legislation. Of course we would also be interested to know why such waiver does not seem to apply to all British citizens in this position in Hong Kong.

We look forward to your response to the above questions with interest.

Yours Sincerely
