Further to my letter of 17 December I am now sending you updated figures. For the number of Indians/Pakistani BDTCS, BOCS and BN (0)s who have no nationality other than British we have no accurate figure. As for the question you asked in paragraph 3 of your letter, my understanding is that no matter whether the Indian/Pakistani BDTCS are BN (0)s or BOCs after 1997 their children and grandchildren can acquire the BOC status under Section 6(2), (3) and (4) of the Hong Kong (British Nationality) Order 1986 if their children and grandchildren are born stateless.
