SSC Procedures & Present Position

steps -
An application in the SSC has to go through the following
(a)
assessment of "sensitivity" claim by responsible Government agencies;
(b)
verification of identity and post held, where applicable, by the Immigration Department;
(c)
(d)
checks on personality by both the UK and HK agencies to confirm that the applicant is of good character (this is also required of spouses and minor children); and
verification of relationship between the principal applicant and his dependants by the Department.

The 26 SSC applications in this batch, in which 15 spouses and 24 minor children are included, have gone through the above steps. Personality checks and verification interviews have not revealed any adverse information on any of these applicants or their dependants. the 26 principal applicants and their 39 dependants are suitable for recommendation by the Governor to the Secretary of State for registration as British citizens pursuant to Section 1(1) and Schedule 2 respectively of the British Nationality (Hong Kong) Act 1990.
6.
Members' agreement to submitting the above cases to the Governor for recommendation to the Secretary of State will be presumed if no comments on the paper are received by 20 October 1992.
