No 10 have asked us for a quick draft reply to the attached letter of 24 June (sic) from Mr A A Blaze-Gosden. enclosed with his letter one from Stephen Yorke (No 10) of 26 November 1991 (which I think your Division must have drafted as we cannot trace it on our files), and a letter ref N178236 of 12 June 1990 from Mrs Buchanan in Nationality Division. enclose both of these and a draft reply to Mr Blaze-Gosden: should be grateful if you could let me know by telephone as soon as possible if you are content with this draft.

The draft reply does not mention the point but unfortunately, as I understand it, few of the rank and file police officers or retired police officers who were serving during the Cultural Revolution period (1966 1970) are likely to qualify under the Nationality Scheme: the benefits they derived from naturalisation in 1972 as CUKCs were indeed short-lived.
