Following previous practice, on receipt of the latest list of Undertakings approved by the Advisory Group in Hong Kong, the DTI checked with Companies House in respect of those 7 companies in Hong Kong which claimed a connection with a British company (List 1). A few minor queries have now been resolved, so the DTI are content and have approved all the names as British Undertakings under our established guidelines (a copy of these is attached for reference).
5. List 2 contains the names of 56 British companies in the UK whose names were not registered at Companies House. However, we have now checked their status and are satisfied that they qualify as British Undertakings.
D 6.
Another 9 names (List 3) do not meet our guidelines and cannot be considered as British Undertakings in Hong Kong. This includes the Royal Mint which is a Government Department. (However a person who has worked for the Royal Mint would anyway have been in Crown Service for the purposes of the Order.)
7. There remains another 36 names sent to us by Hong Kong whose status has still to be resolved satisfactorily. We are looking further into them and will shortly include them in a final submission.
