Recommendation

9.

To summarise, it is recommended that the following amendments to the existing points system should be made :-

(a) the

points scale for professional or vocational qualifications for Accounting Associate Professionals should be revised to reflect the change in the exemption policies of the AAT (para. 4);

(b) within the ceiling of 50 points, the existing caps on the special circumstances points to be allocated for occupation-related awards, voluntary service and acts of bravery or gallantry should be dispensed with (para.6); and

(c)

the existing points scale for public or community service should be revised by awarding 50% more of the number of points to qualified applicants and by lifting the caps on component attributes under this head in the DSC (para. 8).
