Annex B
Publicity arrangements: steps already taken.
2.
The Immigration Department has
|
issued posters and leaflets highlighting the differences between BN (O) and BDTC passports;
explained the differences between the two types of passport whenever immigration officers give forms/advice to passport applicants;
highlighted these differences in red ink on the respective application forms; and
distributed passport inserts advising how to retain British nationality after 1997.
To make registration easier, we introduced a postal application system on 1 May this year. Initially, this only covered passport replacements. But, since
1 September, it has also covered first-time applications. People using the system are saved the trouble of queuing-up or applying in person.
