HONG KONG PROGRAMME FOR REGISTERING BRITISH DEPENDENT TERRITORY CITIZENS (BDTCs) AS BRITISH NATIONALS (OVERSEAS) (BNOs)
The purpose of this submission is to alert Ministers to a scheme being devised by officials in Hong Kong, and soon to be put to
the Executive Council there, to ensure the orderly and timely
acquisition of BDTC and BN(0) status by those who wish to acquire
it before Hong Kong
Hong Kong reverts to China in 1997. We have
reservations about some of the details but the submission seeks
Ministerial endorsement of the scheme in principle.
