When I came to the meeting with OMELCO during my

last visit to Hong Kong, you referred to rumours that British passports granted under the British Nationality

Scheme were being treated as second class passports.

We have now studied the press article which reported the rumour, and have consulted the Home Office. The Home

a17 Office said that they had received no reports from their

team in Hong Kong that these passports were being treated

any differently from other British passports. As the press report makes clear there is only one type of British passport irrespective of how it was obtained and it is therefore not possible to identify those passports

issued under the British Nationality Scheme.
