Background/Line to take
During the past seven months, the Admin- istration as well as the PAA and the MTRC have tried very hard to explain various aspects of the ACP to the Committee, and a large amount of information has been made available to Members (altogether 42 information/ discussion papers have been issued to the Consultative Committee and its sub-committees and replies have been given to 19 written questions raised by Members outside the meetings). Indeed the Administration has taken great pains to ensure that the ACC receives relevant information at the earliest opportunity, as evidenced by the release of the latest cost estimates of the ACP, the airport/airport railway financing plans and the announce- ment of the award of the Tsing Ma Bridge contract etc (the ACC were briefed on latest developments on the same day as LegCo Members were briefed). Through the various meetings the Government Branches and Departments had with the ACC, there have been very useful exchanges of opinions and ACC Members' views were taken very seriously by the Administration.
