Like all politicians, the Foreign Secretary took the opportunity of making a political speech but I was surprised that he asked for the assistance of Hong Kong businessmen in controlling or influencing the British press. We have enough problems with our own local press corps, without incurring further difficulties of modifying UK's attitudes towards Hong Kong.

of your guests were interesting and were all centered around the theme that Hong Kong wishes to do business without Government interference or demands by an unwanted democracy.
