MR GOODLAD'S TRAVEL PLANS

1. Mr predecessor's minute of 12 June to Sir J Coles mentioned the possibility of a visit by Mr Goodlad to China very early in the New Year before Parliament resumes. If this is feasible, it would probably make sense to couple this with the Minister's next trip to Hong Kong: this would enable him to take stock once things have settled down again following the Governor's 7 October speech.

2. I should be grateful for advice from you and Mr Ricketts on whether the timing would be suitable and on the likely content of the visits.
