5. Similarly Mr Goodlad has to transit Bangkok on his way home from Cambodia. Elections will just have taken place there and the interim government will still be in place. timing would not be right for a full bilateral visit (which Mr Goodlad hopes to undertake in October when the new Government is in place) but he thinks that it would be worth spending a day there talking to the present Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

6. Mr Goodlad would like to be accompanied on this occasion by his wife. I shall submit separately a draft letter to PS/No 10 when posts have offered some suggestions for a programme for Mrs Goodlad.

7. On present plans Mr Hogg and Mr Garel-Jones will be in London throughout this period, except that Mr Garel-Jones may be in Strasbourg and Brussels on 15-18 September. Lady Chalker and Mr Lennox-Boyd will both be overseas from 11 September.
