KORFA 26 FEBRUARY

This will be Lord Caithness' second visit to Korea, the first from 13-16 December 1990 was the most recent by a Minister from the FCO. This visit will form part of our regular dialoque with the Koreans. Discussions will

cover

the North/South dialogue and bilateral issues. Lord Caithness will be holding talks with Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Chang Man-Soon and other governmental figures. He will also call on Foreign Minister

Mr Lee Sang Ock.

JAPAN 27 FEBRUARY

1 MARCH

This will be Lord Caithness' second visit to Japan, the

first from 9-13 December 1990 was the most recent visit by a Minister from the FCO.

His

Lord Caithness' visit will build on the regular high-level contacts between the UK and Japan and will help to consolidate further the already excellent relations. talks will cover a range of political and commercial subjects. In his programme he is due to hold talks with Mr Koji Kakizawa, Parliamentary Vice-Minister at the MFA and meet other government Ministers. Lord Caithness may also call on Mr Michio Watanabe, the Foreign Minister, if Diet business allows.

Lord Caithness will also visit Hiroshima and Miyajima.

HONG KONG 1-7 MARCH

This will be Lord Caithness' fourth substantive visit to Hong Kong.

During his visit he will meet the Governor, the Senior Trade Commissioner, local businessmen and civil servants and OMELCO and LegCo representatives. He will present an environmental noise analyser to the Chinese University of Hong Kong and will visit two Vietnamese Migrant Camps.
