PRESIDENCY BILATERAL WITH THE SWEDISH POLITICAL DIRECTOR: WEDNESDAY 16 SEPTEMBER

1. Mr Appleyard is holding a Presidency bilateral with the Swedish Political Director on Wednesday 16 September. The following agenda has been agreed with the Swedes:

It is possible the Swedish Political Director may take the opportunity to lobby in the margins about the Swedish candidature for the UN Security Council. We also have the opportunity to speak to the Swedes at a high level in the margins about the Swedish prisoners in Iraq and the possibility of their assisting us over the British prisoners if this is thought opportune.

3. We should be most grateful if briefing could please be provided as follows by lunchtime on Monday 14 September:

Yugoslavia
