I have discussed with Mr Patten. He very much wants to
see you and would like this to happen at a time and place convenient to you. I said that in that case I thought you would
probably opt for the Hong Kong alternative. If you so decide,
you may want to let Government House there know when you will be
available so that they can block off a time. Do say that Mr Patten has been consulted through me.
2.
As to his first visit to Peking, Mr Patten's present
inclination is to do this some time after his LEGCO address in
October but he will want to give further thought to this and I
imagine he may wish to discuss with you when you meet.
