Fixed route transport, excluding taxis and light buses, accounted for 2.77 billion passenger journeys in the Territory in 1991.

Heavy buses accounted for almost 50% of the above with a total of 1.3 billion passenger journeys. The balance was made up by rail (all types), ferry and minibus.

The heavy bus operating segment is made up largely of double deck buses representing approximately 3700 units, of which. those bearing the Leyland marque account for 90% of the total. This is our most important market outside of the UK with annual sales of 100/200 buses.

We have extended the development of the double deck bus to suit Hong Kong.

Its ubiquitous brother, operating in London. carries 74 seated passengers on two axles within 9.6 metres overall vehicle length The Hong Kong buses, which have been supplied over the last 3 years, carry up to 102 seated passengers in air conditioned comfort, on three axles with a range of overall vehicle lengths at 10.6, 11.3, and 12 metres.
