TECHNICAL SECURITY HONG KONG: HM GOVERNOR'S RESIDENCE

1.

you

Referring to your telephone enquiry of some weeks ago about the possibility of a technical security "sweep" of a selected area in HM Governor's Residence and our subsequent liaison, I confirm that a three man TSD Inspection team lead by Michael Bourne, is scheduled to arrive in Hong Kong from Seoul on 30 October.

2.

On Thursday I outlined to you the team's commitment in Hong Kong prior to their return to the UK later in November. During their visit they will be in a position to render assistance to HM Governor should the requirement still exist.

3. I understand from our telephone conversation on Thursday that our local representative, Martin Healy, had already been called in to assist; however, whilst he will have carried out the best possible technical security inspection within the limits of the search equipment he has, the Inspection Team are equipped with a much wider range of technical search equipment enabling them to conduct an in-depth inspection if indeed this is deemed necessary.

4.

If you require a more comprehensive "sweep" in the Governor's Residence please contact me as soon as possible to enable me to alert the team prior to their departure from Seoul.
