TRANSCRIPT ÓF A TELEPHONE CONVERSATION BETWEEN EDWARD LLEWELLYN
AND DANNY GITTINGS OF THE SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST 5TH JUNE
1992.
[Martin said he will be coming out in July.
Will you be coming
out then?]
That's right, yes at the beginning of July,
[What will you be doing?]
My title is, like Martin's, personal adviser and I think the role
will be discussed with the Chief Secretary and Government House
staff when we arrive.
[It's been reported in the Press here that you will be acting as
a speech-writer to the Governor - is that what you see yourself
doing?]
We will be working as part of the Private Office team, under the
Private Secretary.
[Isn't this a new departure, a political appointee as part of the
Governor's Private Office?]
Well I wouldn't describe myself as a political appointee
H
mean, I know Mr Patten from my time here, but I'm not sure that's
quite the same thing as being as a political appointee.
