Robbery: Reports prominently noted an armed robbery of a security van at Kai Yip Estate after the guards had fetched money from Chartered Bank.

Death penalty: Media reports widely noted that a HKU survey had shown that 75 per cent of the respondents said that the death penalty should be implemented in HK.
Mahjong parlour robbery: Tin Tin Daily said in its lead story that one of the suspects in the Mongkok mahjong parlour robbery, which resulted in a gun battle, had been arrested. The culprits had sneaked back to China but one of them went back to HK to buy blood for the wounded and was intercepted at a check-point.
ZHU SENLIN
A number of papers said that Guangdong Governor Zhu Senlin would arrive in HK on Friday for a five-day visit at the invitation of the Governor.
FINANCE
Reminbi: The Express reported prominently that the Reminbi would shortly be devaluated again. The report quoted Chinese monetary officials. It said that the aim was that the reminbi would be in line with its value in the black market by the end of the year.
Commissioner of Banking: A press conference by Banking Commissioner David Carse was widely noted. Many reports played up his remark that he considered that the tight mortgage leading policy should continue for some time.
LEGCO BUILDING
Reports widely noted that a vandal had smashed several windows at the Legco Building.
LU PING
Ta Kung Pao said in its lead story that Chinese official Lu Ping told a visiting HK industrial delegation that he was looking forward to seeing HK's new Governor, Chris Fatten, soon to discuss HK issues.
FCO MINISTER
Sing Pao said that when FCO minister Alastair Goodlad visited HK on May 24, he would be meeting the main political groups and touring Chek Lap Kok.
