PRESS RELEASE

Working together in close cooperation, the Governments of Vietnam, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong have made progress in their joint efforts to solve the problem of Vietnamese illegal immigrants in Hong Kong. As a further stage in this cooperation these Governments have agreed on the repatriation of those Vietnamese illegal immigrants who have not qualified for resettlement in third countries. The repatriation of these Vietnamese citizens will be conducted under conditions of order, safety and dignity.
