This letter that I have just written to you is somewhat very out of character, but I felt that I just had to write and let you know how angered I feel about a statement I have just heard by you on B.B.C's New's programme.

The statement relates to the position recently bestowed upon Mr Chris Pattern as British Govener to Hong Kong

As the head of the British Government (of whom I voted for I may add) could you possibly explain to me what warrents the exhorbarant ammount of monies being paid to one man to do one job, especially when the country is going through a very

bad depression.

I understand from the above mentioned,

programme that Mr Pattern is to recieve £152,000 per year + £5,000 per month for entertainment purposes + Rolls Royce + 2 daimlers + Yatch and a helicoptor at his disposal.

What I find it hard to understand is that how, I who have recently lost my dear husband (after a long and

very hard 12 year battle against brain cancer) am about to loose my home because due to my husbands medical problems could get no life insurance cover so I have therefore no way of keeping up my mortgage repayments

on a mere £35,000 I would also like to add that although my husband suffered for 12yrs and underwent numeramus operations during

to reduce the size of

those

years
