Film Censorship: "Her Fatal Ways III"
cc. Mr Galsworthy
Mr Ricketts.
I refer to your minute refPÃO(C) 192/65 of
30 June 1992.
LAST PAPER
You will be interested to know that James So
has already broadly discussed with Raymond Chow of
Golden Harvest the plans for "Her Fatal Ways IV".
Golden Harvest has provided the financing for this
series to date. Mr. Chow recognised that the intended
theme of the fourth film in this series is somewhat
extreme and that even Part III went rather too far.
He intends to suggest to the director and script-writer
that they tone down their satire somewhat.
In fact, market forces will probably prove
most potent of all. As is often the case with series
of films on similar themes the audience has become
rather tired of them. "Her Fatal Ways III" was not а
box office success and there is a general feeling that
this film's rather exaggerated characterisations are no longer popular. In
In the circumstances, Mr. Chow is
likely to consider carefully the value of further
finance for more such films.
