(a) by adding "purporting to be" after "certificate"

where it first appears; and

(b) by repealing "the contrary is proved" and

substituting "evidence to the contrary is adduced".

Presumption

Section 17N is amended by repealing "unless it is proved that

he is lawfully employable, be presumed until the contrary is proved"

and substituting "unless evidence is adduced that he is lawfully

employable, be presumed in the absence of evidence to the contrary".

Detention pending determination of objection

Section 28 is repealed.

9. Detention for inquiry as to deportation

Section 29 (2)(b) is amended by repealing "activities, whether

of that person or another person," and substituting "activities of

that person".

10.

Detention of deportee for inquiries

Section 31(1)(b)(i) is amended by repealing "activities,

whether of that person or another person," and substituting

"activities of that person".

11.

Recognizance as alternative to detention

Section 36(1)(a) and (2) is amended by repealing "28,".
