A BILL

To

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and

consent of the Legislative Council thereof.

1.

Short title

This Ordinance may be cited as the Societies (Amendment)

Ordinance 1992.

2.

Long title amended

The long title of the Societies Ordinance (Cap. 151) is amended

by repealing "registration of societies" and substituting

"notification of the establishment of societies, for the prohibition

of the operation of certain societies".

3.

Interpretation

(1) Section 2 (1) is amended

-

(a) by repealing the definition of "exempted society";

(b)

in the definition of "local society" by repealing

"subsection (2A) or";

(c)

(a)

by adding after the definition of "office-bearer"

""performance of functions" includes the exercise

of powers and the performance of duties;";

by repealing the definitions of "prescribed",

"registered society" and "Registrar"; and
