1. I note that in Hong Kong telno 506 of 20 February (para 2), you expected that the Draft Amendment Bill to the Societies Ordinance would be ready in early March. If the text is now ready, could you please fax it to me in good time. If not, could you give some indication of when we can expect it.

The approaching General Election in the United Kingdom, (9 April), regardless of its outcome, makes it very difficult to ensure a speedy response from Ministers to submissions over the next few weeks. You ought to bear this in mind when submitting the draft legislation for our comments.
