A BILL

Amend the Police Force Ordinance.

To

Annex A

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and

consent of the Legislative Council thereof.

1.

Short title

This Ordinance may be cited as the Police Force (Amendment)

Ordinance 1992.

2.

Arrest, detention and bail of suspected persons and seizure of suspected property

(1) Section 50 (1) of the Police Force Ordinance (Cap. 232) is

repealed and the following substituted

"(1)

It shall be lawful for any police officer to

apprehend any person who he reasonably believes will be charged

with or whom he reasonably suspects of being guilty of

(a)

any offence for which the sentence is fixed by

(b)

law or for which a person may (on a first

conviction for that offence) be sentenced to

imprisonment; or

any offence, if it appears to the police officer

that service of a summons is impracticable
