Thank you for your letter of 23rd November. made a comprehensive search and have to come back to the same conclusion criminal offences committed on Hong Kong registered aircraft can only be prosecuted in Hong Kong.

That need not be the end of the story. If you can persuade the Hong Kong Authorities to lay a criminal charge in this matter, they have the right to apply to the UK for extradition of the offender. We could certainly assist in that respect here. I can see no reason why such an

application should not succeed which would result in the repatriation of the offender to Hong Kong and his criminal trial there which would surely be a resounding demonstration to cabin crew of Cathay's determination to protect them! Please let me know if you would like to discuss this idea further.
