Committee meetings. The rôle of the local representatives varies substantially according to the subject matter of the meeting: in some cases they may lead the UK Delegations, whilst in others they may take a back seat.

There are a large number of miscellaneous communications and enquiries to be dealt with emanating from Home Departments, other delegations, the ICAO Secretariat, other international organizations such as IATA, IFALPA etc., the media, academics and other members of the public.

The Representative is ex officio Joint Chairman of the 12 member Western "Geneva Group" which attempts to coordinate policies on financial and administrative issues. For 1992 he is also the local representative of the ECAC Presidency and of the European Community Presidency. The second of these responsibilities will cease as from 1 January 1993.

UKREP/ICAO consists of two UK based Officers and three locally engaged staff.
