Meeting on Piracy in the Far East Region held in Kuala Lumpur on 27 February 1992

Objective

The meeting was sponsored by the ICC International Maritime Bureau and the Royal Malaysian Police to review the growing problem of piracy in the Far East. The stated intention was to bring law enforcement agencies and the shipping industry together to promote a better understanding of the problem and identify the way forward. The IMB proposal to establish an IMB office in Kuala Lumpur to receive and collate piracy
