A delegation of 6 members led by Mr Bowen LEUNG, Deputy Secretary

for Planning, Environment and Lands, visited Shenzhen and the Pearl River Delta

Area during 15 November 1991 to 18 November 1991. A full list of the delegates is

at Appendix 1.

(a)

The objectives of the visit were to :-

obtain information on the latest development in the Pearl River Delta,

with which the economic and physical development of Hong Kong are

closely tied;

(b)

observe port and airport facilities and developments, facilities for shipping

to Hong Kong, industrial development and major transport facilities;

(c)

provide Hong Kong officials responsible for lands and planning policy

matters an opportunity to gain a better perspective of the current city and

infrastructural development in the areas; and

(d)

enable officials of both governments to exchange information and views
