The manufacturing establishments and trading firms interviewed manufacture/trade a wide variety of goods, including garments, knitwear, furs, toys (including stuffed, plastic and electronic), clocks and watches, electronic and electrical.

It should however be noted that owing to resources
constraint and the nature of the consultation visits, the selection of manufacturing establishments and trading firms for interview was not done entirely scientifically. Emphasis was given to the larger companies, particularly the more co-operative
ones who are more willing to give their views. Furthermore,
fairly high rank officers (e.g. economists and statisticians) were required to conduct in-depth interviews with staff of the
