IRO SUB-GROUP: POLITICAL AND DIPLOMATIC TREATIES
1.
Thank you for your faxed letter of 16 November. I will get any comments we may have on the discussion papers to you as soon as possible.
2.
You asked for a list of notifications made by the UK concerning the Specialised Agencies of the UN. I enclose the relevant extract from the Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the Specialised Agencies, which lists the notifications made by both the UK and the PRC. At first sight it seems that the UK has, under the terms of the Convention, accepted two agencies which the PRC has not: the International Refugee Organisation and the World Intellectual Property Organisation.
You
3. Perhaps I could ask for a small favour in return. mentioned in your telegram (2707) the latest list of multilateral treaties applying to Hong Kong which was handed to the Chinese on 8 June 1992. I'm afraid our copy of this list seems to have been lost (although we have the January 1991 version). Could you fax me the part of the list concerning the political and diplomatic category please, and send a copy of the whole list by bag? This will be helpful across the range of IRO sub-group matters. Sorry for the hassle.
4.
Please get in touch if you need any further information.
