We have studied items 19.2 and 19.2(1) of the List

Of Multilateral

Telecommunications

Agreement

i.e. the Commonwealth United

Agreement, 1949

the

and

Supplementary

revising Article II of that

Agreement, 1952 and have decided that they should cease to apply to Hong Kong with effect from 1 July 1997. These two

treaties are obsolete and the subject mattersS are noW

covered by commercial agreements between private operating

agencies. NO consultation papers have therefore been prepared on these

these two treaties.
