You will have seen Hong Kong telno 132 of 16 January and presumably aware of the possibility that Hong Kong might provide the venue for the Annual Meetings in 1997.
The final paragraph of telno 132 mentions 'the likely heavy costs' of hosting these meetings, 'and the question of who should bear them'. I must make it clear that there can be no question of HMG contributing anything towards the cost of Hong Kong hosting these meetings, should the HKG decide to make a formal application to do We should expect the Hong Kong Government to bear the administrative and financial costs of all the necessary arrangements.
