Although based in Manchester we also have a sizeable manufacturing unit, Aquaseal Limited, in Rochester, Kent and I am writing to you therefore to request your assistance in advancing a situation that could be of vital benefit to us in providing considerable income and continued employment to our workforce.
In March of this year I wrote to Mr Gary Titley and a copy of the relevant correspondence is enclosed. I trust you appreciate my decision not to write to you at the time since the General Election, I judged, would leave you with no time for other matters.
From my original letter dated 12 March you will see that the size of the business is appreciable insofar as Singapore is concerned. Our continued pursuit of the Taiwanese potential has been very encouraging. We understand that our system is regarded by them as superior to the French and they want to 'buy British'.
The size of the deal in Taiwan is likely to be at least as big as that for Singapore. In this instance we, Feb Limited, are acting as the 'prime contractor' for the whole deal, that is we will be quoting for the total business and then the potential income to us will be inexcess of £12M in all probability.
From Mr Titley's reply you will however see that we are meeting with no favourable response regarding the granting of a permit to export. This we find difficult to accept particularly in the present economic climate and even more particularly if the state of the Construction Industry is borne on mind.
