It is also in the interest of the Community to strengthen its ties with Macao and establish a regular dialogue
interest.
It would therefore seem to be of mutual benefit if the Community reacts favourably to the request of Macao and accepts to negotiate agreement of the same kind as those already concluded with most developing countries in the Asian region.

Consequently, the Commission recommends to the Coucil that it be authorised to negotiate a trade and cooperation Agreement between the European Economic Community and Macao following the guidelines annexed hereto and in consultation with a Special Committee established by the Council In order to assist it on this matter.
