HONG KONG BASIC LAW TRANSLATION

We spoke. I attach the collected works to date. I have no objection to your passing it to the Hong Kong government. The original was sent to us from Peking in late 1990 and it might be a courtesy to send them one as well (though in view of the bulk, they might find it a mixed blessing). It is not a polished translation and there no doubt numerous errors, but, with those
qualifications, use it as you wish. You will have seen from previous instalments that I have been copying the translation to Ms Barrett in the Legal Advisers who expressed an early interest. Unless you have any objection, I would like to pass a copy also to Mr Fifoot who is aware of the project and saw some of the early work before he left.

Chapters 2, 12 and 13 are still outstanding.
