These projects are the most important part of the work of Senior British Trade Commissioner and his staff in Hong Kong.

- DTI, ECGD and FCO officials are closely involved. We meet regularly at senior level to discuss progress and we are in regular contact with the companies and of course with the Hong Kong Government.

It is partly as a result of this effort that British companies are now well-placed for the big prizes of the bridge and platform reclamation contracts (although the competition in these final stages will be intense). We judge that the companies understand that Hong Kong will choose the consortia on their merits, and thus their bids must be realistic.
