The Report refers to discrimination against in relation to land inheritance under the
New Territories Ordinance (Cap.97). The Law
Reform Commission in its reports on "Wills, intestate succession and provision for deceased
persons'
and dependents" and "Illegitimacy" recommended that the present legal discriminatory provisions in favour of Chinese
custom and customary rights which applied to
succession to certain land in the New Territories
should be repealed. The New Territories Ordinance
is currently the subject of an overall review by Secretary for Home Affairs.
