Yahuda's other main thesis, which is that the negotiating process still leaves Hong Kong out, ignores the fact that representatives of the HKG sit on the Hong Kong side of the JLG: in fact he does not even mention this point. I am quite sure that I told him that in practice all decisions on action in the JLG are taken in Hong Kong and only subsequently ratified by London. No doubt he left this out because it was incompatible with his preconceptions!

6. On a point of detail the date on which the Chinese negotiating position was finally approved (page 23) must surely be December 1981, not 1982.
