PC 19632, who remained on board, assisted the persons climbing on and seated them at the stern of PV 43. The rock was very slippery and everybody was getting drenched because of the waves pounding against the rock and the heavy rain.
It was very difficult for the officers on the rock to hold their balance.

After a few minutes, we had rescued six persons on board, including three males, two females and a young four year old boy. I informed Marine Control of the rescue and instructed launch 73 to go alongside Tai O pier, because it would have been impossible to board 73 at this location. I then proceeded slowly towards Tai 0, escorted by two other seariders from another Police launch that had subsequently arrived on the scene. We usually only carry about four persons maximum on PV 43, but in this emergency it was necessary to carry a total of 10.
13.
Once alongside Tai O, I provided hot water and refreshment for the six persons and arranged for medical treatment at Tai O clinic, essentially for checking purposes. Fortunately, I received no injury and there was only minor damage to the hull of the sea rider. The six rescued persons were all mainland Chinese. They had been on board a fishing vessel that had been swept onto Wong Fa Pai and sank. They were lucky to scramble onto the rock and await assistance.
14.
On completion of the operation, we resumed patrol, leaving the persons at Tai O clinic. I understand the six people subsequently joined another Chinese Territory vessel and returned to China.
