Thank you for your letter of the 29th January.

When I first learnt of the late Sir S.K. Tang's benefaction from Mr. Peter Morris, he informed me that the Will provided for the retention in perpetuity of the capital sum so to be paid to us but enabled the annual income therefrom to be applied for the general purposes of the Institute in connection with its work of cancer treatment and research. This was confirmed by Mr. Michael Stone, successor to Mr. Morris and Mr. Holroyd, in his letter to me of the 15th September 1984 when he referred to transfer of the money, i.e. approximately £330,000 and accrued interest, to the Institute.

In view of the above comments, your reference to the administration of the funds is slightly confusing unless by this reference, you are referring to distribution of the funds.

If the position is as I have envisaged, then please do not trouble to reply to this letter but if it is otherwise, I shall be grateful for your comments. If you do write, then I should welcome a copy of the Will for our file, please.
