Thank you for your letter of 21 October about a review of
the operation of our jointly funded Scheme and for your
proposals for its future.
Firstly let me say that we are pleased at the so far very
successful operation of this Scheme in providing bright
young students from Hong Kong with the opportunity to
undertake a period of study in the United Kingdom. We too
should like to see it continue.
Having considered your several proposals for future
operation we should be content to agree with you the
following provisions:
(i)
that the Scheme should normally seek to offer some
nine new awards each year as well as covering the costs of
CHBAEX
