PRELIMINARY PROPOSAL FOR A REGIONAL SEMINAR ON

NUCLEAR INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION

Objective:

To enhance public understanding of nuclear energy by means of communicating factual information to local media participants and professional/institutional representatives who can subsequently share the knowledge with the general public in Hong Kong.

Target audience will therefore be restricted to Hong Kong journalists and professional/institutional representatives.

Format :

2.1 The seminar will provide the Hong Kong media with the

opportunity to meet and discuss all aspects of nuclear issues with nuclear experts from IAEA, CNNC, NNSA EdF and GNPJVC, to coincide with fuel delivery to the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant.

2.2

Much of the information exchange will be conducted through panel discussion as well as through screening videos provided by the IAEA and an exhibition organised by the HKNIC.

No. of local media representatives to be invited around 80 including representatives from daily and weekly newspapers, news agencies, local broadcasting/TV stations & magazines.

No. of other guests to be invited : around 70 including representatives from goverment departments and councils, universities and colleges, professional bodies, community groups, opinion groups, selected trade/business associations and Hong Kong representatives of overseas nuclear organisations.

Total no. of invitations planned to be issued : around 150 Expected no. of participants: around 100
